Free audio tour National Park Nieuw Land

As part of the 2021 theme year ‘Ode to the Landscape’, the Forestry Commission has developed the free audio tour National Park Nieuw Land. A beautiful route through the Oostvaardersplassen, walkable on your own with the help of an app. You will pass several bird-watching huts and other beautiful viewpoints. Start and end points are the Buitencentrum Oostvaardersplassen, where you can get something to eat and drink before or after your walk.

Water and vast grasslands, forest and ruggedness, mustard and hawthorn, bearded reedling and buzzard... Welcome to the wonderful world of Oostvaardersplassen! In this tour, we explore the uniqueness of Oostvaardersplassen and reflect on past, present and future. Through stories, photos, a quiz and images, we will take you on a journey through the flora and fauna of this unique area. Enjoy and be inspired on this 7.9-kilometre walk.

The tour can be walked at your own pace and offers various viewpoints and rest points. Titled: ‘Nationaal Park Nieuw Land: the wonder world of the Oostvaardersplassen’, the tour can be found in the izi.TRAVEL app. This app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store. The tour through the Oostvaardersveld starts at Buitencentrum Oostvaardersplassen (Lelystad). You can find the audio route here on izi.TRAVEL. In addition, a gpx file is available via the blue text ‘download route’ at the top of this page. This therefore does not include the audio tour guidance and is purely for navigation purposes.
